Official promoter issued concert poster for The Fall, appearing with The Beloved, at the University of Bristol Union's Anson Room.
The Fall, often touted as one of the most enigmatic and idiosyncratic garage bands of the last 30 years, remain an iconic example of the post-punk English band. The November 6th performance promoted their 1986 Bend Sinister Album, its title taken from the dystopian 1947 Nabokov novel of the same name. Their set list covered 15 songs from Bend Sinister, including their cover of 'Mr Pharmacist' and 'Shoulder Pads #1'.
The Fall, famed for their interchanging band members, and consistent leadership by of course Mark E. Smith, were at collaborative high in 1986, with notable band members including the composer Simon Rogers, Brix Smith, guitarist Craig Scanlon and drummer Simon Wolstenroft. Wolstenroft's 2014 memoir 'You Can Drum but you Cant Hide' covers this significant period of The Fall. 1986 saw The Fall tour both the USA and Britain, playing alongside equally iconic bands such as The Smiths and the Virgin Prunes.
This original band poster signed by Mark E. Smith is not just a rare collectible artwork but anyone with a discerning taste for graphics and the music culture of 1980's Britain.
