Swedish Wedding Chest dated 1846. Wedding chest were a traditional gift to marrying couples in Sweden on their wedding day. The chest would be decoratively painted for the couple. This antique Swedish wedding chest is hand painted in its orginal blue paint which now shows signs of fading in parts due to its age. The wedding chest has been painted with decorative flowers (roses and peonies) and the date and initials have been hand painted on the side of the chest. The cast iron work to the chest (the carrying handles) are original. The chest shows signs of wear in keeping with its age. The key to this chest is missing.
