Description
First edition, published by Percy Lund, Humphries & Co. Ltd, 1960.
A typographic version by Richard Hamilton of Marcel Duchamp's green box.
Translated by George Heard Hamilton.
The book takes its name from Duchamp's 9 ft. tall freestanding glass piece, that was included photographed, along with drawings and writings surrounding the creation of the piece, in a green box, most commonly known as Green Box but also as The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even. Originally the notes were left loose so that their relationships for the reader would be determined by chance. This book is Richard Hamilton's typographic version, translated by George Heard Hamilton, making the piece accessible, while retaining its aesthetic appeal.
