The Delfi table is a result of a collaboration between two of the leading names in 20th century European architecture. Carlo Scarpa designed 58 buildings during his time as well as many pieces of furniture. He gained a reputation for his mastery of detailing and bold use of material. Marcel Breuer made his name at the Bauhaus by designing both the Wassily and Cesca chairs, two icons of mid-century design. His personal practice grew incredibly quickly, working on many high profile architectural projects such as the UNESCO headquarters built in 1951. The Delfi table is clean and uncompromising and showcases the characteristics of the white marble it is made from beautifully. The contours of the leg detailing is derived from the classical architecture of ancient Rome. A thick rectangular slab of square profiled marble sits on top of the two base pieces. Excellent vintage condition with a some minor surface wear and a few minor small chips to the underside which can not be seen.
