A Maison Charles “Nenuphar” bronze lamp designed and signed twice in the mould by Chrystiane Charles on the top and bottom of the lily pad leaf. She designed and made all the original clay moulds herself and only the earlier ones have the signature in the mould and therefore the final cast.Mounted with a bronze water lily flowers with original bronze shade with brass top arm. Also Stamped on the base “Made In France, Charles “Rewired with antique gold cord flex and switch. The lamp and the shade are in very good condition with no dents, some light scratching and natural patina. There is another similar lamp available to make a pair which has a slight variation in the shade colour -see last four photos. The lamp is this listing is on the left the other is in the other listing, both can be purchased together as a pair if required. Chrystyiane Charles was the wife of Jean Charles, the grandson of founder Ernest Charles. Chrystiane Charles won the gold medal at the Ecole Supérieure Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, then went on to become the Artistic Director and President of Maison Charles both posts she held until 1982. Chrystiane created over 300 designs for the company including some of its most famous, more organic models like the water lilies.
