Description
This is the first monograph of the work of Argentinean artist Lucio Fontana, published 2 years after his death – which is especially surprising considering his work is celebrated worldwide, and continuously influencing younger generations of artists.
Initially working with abstract and Expressionist painters, Fontana began to break away towards a unique style of his own creation, spurring his several manifestos, including his own movement, Spatialism. These works varied from pioneering sculpture and light installations, to the instantly recognisable slash (Tagli) and holes (Buchi) pieces. Alongside these works, Fontana constantly worked on varying styles of tactile clay sculptures and graphic works.
First edition, published by Praeger, New York, 1970
