A near identical pair of chairs illustrated on the front cover of Robert Couturier's new book. For the period, these armchairs are significantly broader than most at 70 cm wide. Jean-Jacques Pothier, was one of the few makers of the period to specialise in producing chairs of this scale. Each chair stamped I Pothier on the front rail.
