Description

This enchanting landscape oil on wood board painting depicts one of the most famous views of the city of Rome. The imperial forums, a large square where you can still admire the ruins of some important classical temples and buildings of ancient Rome. This evocative Roman view, although convenient in size, is rich in architecture and characters. In the left corner you can see the foreshortening of a church, then the view of the big square with temples and columns surrounded by small houses with typical red-brick roofs and bell towers. In the square a man, probably a shepherd, walks with his dog while a family is next to a horse-drawn cart.This painting dating back to late 19th -early 20th century taked inspiration from the Neoclassical views very famous during Grand Tour period.This painting is housed in a modern black lacquer wood frame with gilt accents on the edges.Measures: Height 21 cm, width 26 cm, depth 2 cm.
