Sculptural and graceful iconic lounge chair model 1705 by Warren Platner designed in 1962 for Knoll International. Nickel-plated steel wire frame executed from steel rods and extensive amounts of welds, upholstered in luxury (expensive) Knoll fabric 'Annelse' (see last image). This fabric has a soft touch and wonderful structure that compliments the design beautifully. Warren Platner (1919-2006) was originally trained as an architect a studied at Cornell University. Although Platner made notable architectural contributions throughout his career it was his 'Wire Series' furniture collection for Knoll that earned Platner worldwide renown. Originally introduced by Knoll in 1966, the Platner collection is an icon of modern furniture. This chair is from a recent production that is practically new (been sat in only less than a hand full of times), no wear to be found.
