Early 1940s Danish Banana three-seat sofa in the manner of architect Flemming Lassen, newly reupholstered in genuine sheeps pelts. The sofa is of excellent craftsmanship, probably made by Slagelse Møbelværk, Denmark using proper materials – solid beech, metal springs, jute and horsehair. The shape is enveloping and comfortable. And the fabric has been scotchguarded. Slagelse Møbelværk was a famous Danish maker for many of the great designers such as architect Flemming Lassen (1902-1984) and Viggo Boesen, but went out of business in 1978. These sofas were made during the 30s and 40s, as documented at the Cabinet Maker’s Autumn Exhibition, 1935.
