Description

This copper pendant with an amber blown glass insert was designed by Finnish designer Nanny Still in the 1960s. It was manufactured by Raak Amsterdam. Nanny Still-McKinney (1926-2009) was a well-known Finnish lighting designer who worked for prestigious companies such as Riihimäki Lasi  in the 1950s and later for Raak Amsterdam in the 1960s. She was recognized for her designs at the Milan Triennials in 1954, 1957, and 1960. Still's colourful and delicate works in glass design continued to bloom in her work for Raak, as seen in this 1960s pendant design that incorporates a carefully patinated metal shade exterior that wraps around the blown glass bubbles.
