Description
This beautiful book showcases the jewels with tipped in photograph plates that Dali created in collaboration with the great jewellers. The designs follow many of the themes and motifs he addresses in his other works, with biblical imagery and surrealist themes running throughout.
In Dali’s words; “My jewels are a protest against the emphasis upon the cost of the materials of jewellery. My object is to show the jewellery art in true perspective, where the design and craftsmanship are to be valued above the material worth of the gems, as in Renaissance times.”
First edition, published by The New York Graphic Society & The Owen Cheatham Foundation, 1959.
