Magnificent 19th century Victorian mahogany astragal bookcase secretaire England circa 1875, the galleried upper section with corniced top with dentil moulding over two astragal glazed doors with elegant geometric design, brass detail to front of doors with original working brahma lock and one original working key, opening to reveal a velvet lined interior with three velvet lined shelves, the exquisitely appointed secretaire drawer below opens to reveal an interior that is handsomely appointed with a burgundy red and gilded tooled eather inset writing area with a large central pigeon hole to the front with four small veneered drawers to the sides all with brass drawer pulls, below a further three graduated cock beaded drawers all with original brass drop handles and original brahma locks with one original working key for the lower section, the whole raised on bracket feet, The locks stamped J T Needs & Co. (In 1874 Bramah was owned by J T Needs and moved from 128 Piccadilly London to 100 New Bond Street), this piece has been recently re-polished by our restorer and is offered in excellent condition, reserve now.
