Sapphire Blue Mouth Blown Drop Vase by Per Lütken for Holmegaard, 1960s

Mouth blown second largest size 'Drop Vase' by Danish glass designer Per Lütken for Holmegaard, Denmark. Very heavy solid vase in striking electric blue Sapphire colour. Designed by P. Lütkin in 1955. These organic shaped mouth blown vases where manufactured with using steam from a wet wooden pin, Inserted in the gather of glass. This results in the distinctive and characteristic neck of each individual vase which shows the uniqueness and value of true handicraft as no other vase is alike. Vase is fully signed with designers initials 'PL' + manufacturer name, 'Holmegaard'. Per Lutken (1916-1998) was the unsurpassed master of Danish glass design and one of Holmegaard's most advanced glass designers where he worked from 1942 until his death in 1998. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good clean condition on the inside. Exterior with minor age-related scratches on the surface and at neck. More severe scratches on the bottom of vase, as shown on detail pictures. Overall good condition considering age and use.
