Description

Danish Art Nouveau lizard vase by Lauritz Jensen for Ibsens Enke in 1899. The art nuveau vase that feature a very well made lively lizard on the frontside of the vase chasing a beetle cravling on the side of the vase is in excellent condition. Lauritz Jensen (1859 - 1935) was a Danish artist (sculptor) and is considered one of Denmark's very best animal sculptors. Ibsens Enke (1843 - 1955) was a very succesfull company that especially during the first part of the 1900´s managed to attract several leading names in Danish design who worked for the factory and exportet their pieces to many countries. Over the years, the factory's creations acquired 56 first-class international prizes and are represented in many public institutions among them Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the National Museum in Stockholm, the Los Angeles Museum in California, Cleveland and the Brooklyn Museums, the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, the National Museum of Finland in Helsinki, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Les Amis des Musees de la ville de Mons, Brussels, the National Arts Club in New York and the Latvian National History Museum in Riga.
